mnnnnnnn....... just racked an IPA that my schweetie & I brewed last week, and am sampling the leftovers from the primary.
Grain bill included some amber and a few different x-tal malts to balance everything out. Its a beautiful "old" copper penny color, awesome flavor, good hop flavor, bitterness, and aroma. We used Chinook & Centennial, and i tell ya... that's a mighty fine IPA mix!
What's everyone's fav hop blend for IPA? do you dry hop?
hoppy brewing folks!!! =)

Wed, September 14, 2005 - 8:05 PMI like to use EKG for some of my english style bitters/cask ales...
I'm planning on half an ounce of centennial in the tertiary (gonna snag the yeasties off the secondary for repitching), then either keg or bottle. If i keg, i might just throw the hops in there, and force carbonate.

Re: Fav Hops for IPA....
Fri, November 11, 2005 - 4:41 PMHave either of you tried Amarillo and Simcoe?
Amarillo is the main hop in Rogue's Imperial IPA and Simcoe is very heavily present in Russian River's Pliny the Elder.
Both awesome hops IMHO
I made a mistake in my pliny clone though.... turns out the AA on the hops I bought were indeed higher than the recipe. As a result its...uh... I'm not even going to guess at the IBU's on it.
Bottling an experimental IPA this weekend (all amarillo - four additions and dry hop) that's sitting in my v-vessel. The trub smelled amazing! -

Fri, November 11, 2005 - 6:02 PMStill have to try both of those guys... pliny is a fav (both younger & elder), and simcoe is a hop i wouldn't mind 'sperimentin with.
;) let me know how your IPA comes out. I'm taste testing mine this weekend (should be fully carbonated)
